The story of Power to the Chickens
By Kim Sgro, PTTC founder
The idea behind PTTC burst into life when it was pointed out that an upside-down peace sign looks like a chicken foot. Who knew that when you turn the peace sign into a chicken foot...you suddenly have a new movement. Power to the Chickens!
In the spirit of this amusing concept, I made one t-shirt to wear around, much like the ones I sell today. I was promptly asked by strangers on the street where they could find one for themselves! Shortly thereafter, my closest friends created the PTTC hand salute -- a three-fingered show of support for our feathered brethren.
It became clear to me that folks recognized the fun of seeing a familiar symbol used in a different light, with a new and somewhat comical meaning. I was equally struck by how people embraced the idea of supporting a message that empowered those with little or no power in our world: the animals.
Much like the concept behind PTTC, this website is for any and all who enjoy life. It is a place for people to gather, learn a little bit about the world around them, and perhaps help to change it for the better. There are easy things you can do to take a stand, and PTTC will show you how. As matters evolve, be sure to come back often. Participate as much as you’d like. Change.
PTTC is for those who like smiling, love a good laugh, and get a kick out of being silly -- while making a difference in this world. Join the movement. Welcome to Power to the Chickens!
